After one night in Portland and two nights in Olympia, we went to Camp of the Cascades (about an hour from Olympia) for a family retreat.
It was really nice to spend some time together as a family - we even got to go for a hike!
The camp property is amazingly beautiful
And true to form in the NW we had all kinds of weather!
We got to stay in this new section of the camp that they just built. The engine is real (I think) and all the box cars are like little cabins that if you were a crazy youth pastor, you could fit 10 smelly adolescents in there and call it youth camp! I think there are like 12 or 15 box cars - pretty fun. We got one to ourselves, which was nice.
During free time on one of the days Joel got to ride a horse! (Maren and I took a nap.)
Maren with a leaf that she carried around for the better part of an afternoon.

We had a wonderful time at this wonderful camp and look forward to doing it again next year!

Rolf helped build train camp. Lucky that you guys got the whole place to yourself. We miss camp and can't wait to get back out there. Say hi to the kids for us. Joel is looking so old.
